Edith Poteat, affectionally known as “Sissy” and “Nana” transitioned to eternal rest on Monday, October 14, 2024.
She was born on November 9, 1943, in Caswell County, NC to the late Edward Daye and Jennie Lou Poole Daye.
She attended school in the Caswell County Schools system and graduated from James B. Dudley High School in Greensboro, NC.
She was married to Rainey Poteat, and to this union one child was born. Edith was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her cherished daughter, Angela “Angie” Poteat Ealey, and her brother, Franklin Daye.
Edith is survived by her three grandchildren, Christopher Ealey (Jennifer) of Newport Richey, Florida, Quentin Ealey (Aesha) of Greensboro, NC, and Ariel McLeod of Martinsburg, West Virginia.; two great-grandchildren, Sariyah Ealey and Kellen Ealey.; one brother, Clyde Daye, two sisters, Sheron Jenkins and Melonia Milliken (Keith), all of Greensboro, NC., and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Edith was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She will be greatly missed.
